War Memorial Lazaretto Point Holy Loch Scotland

The war memorial, in the form of a large round tower, is situated at Lazaretto Point on the southwest shore of the Holy Loch between Ardnadam and Sandbank. Built during the 1920s, to commemorate those who fell in World War One. A bronze plaque was later added to the front of the tower and marks the sacrifice of the "officers and men of the Sandbank and district who died in their country's service" during the Second World War.
On a low wall to the towers left is a polished stone marker baring the black and red badge of the Combined Operations. erected to mark the 70th anniversary of Operation Frankton the memorial is dedicated to the memory of "The Royal Marines boom patrol, The Cockleshell Heroes" who sailed from Holy Loch to take part in the operation.
