Richard Reed Co Founder of Innocent which was founded by three Cambridge graduates - Richard Reed, Adam Balon and Jon Wright; at the time they were working in consulting and advertising. The three were friends at St John's College, Cambridge. In 1998, after spending six months working on smoothie recipes and £500 on fruit, the trio sold their drinks from a stall at a music festival in London. People were asked to put their empty bottles in a 'yes' or 'no' bin depending on whether they thought the three should quit their jobs to make smoothies. At the end of the festival the 'YES' bin was full, with only three cups in the 'NO' bin, so they went to their work the next day and resigned. After quitting their jobs, the three had a lucky break when Maurice Pinto, a wealthy American businessman, decided to invest £250,000. Innocent credit the creation of their brand identity to David Streek (aka Gravy), the design director at Deepend which also developed their early label designs and website. Prior to the name "innocent", the product was going to be called Fast Tractor. The company's HQ, Fruit Towers, is based in Shepherds Bush. On 2 December 2007 Innocent Drinks appeared at number 40 in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100, a list of the fastest growing private companies in the UK. It was the only company to have appeared in this list for the last five years consecutively. Each of the last four years, Innocent has more than doubled its revenues.

Michael "Kell" Ryan is a founding member of Ryanair, the largest low-cost airline in Europe. Ryanair was financed by and was the dream of Dr T.A.Ryan, Kell Ryan's older brother. Kell worked at Ryanair from its conception, when the airline had only 50 employees until his retirement in 2004. In 1985 Ryanair carried 5000 passengers and nowadays they are Europe's most successful low-cost airline with many millions of passengers every year.

Lee Strafford is a former chairman of Sheffield Wednesday F.C. He is also the Executive Chairman of TheNetStart. Lee was also a co-founder of successful UK ISP PlusNet Lee Strafford became chairman of Sheffield Wednesday on 7 January 2009, and quickly made significant changes to the club, he took them down after only 18 months, and signing a charitable sponsorship deal with Sheffield Children's Hospital. However, it was announced on 17 May 2010 that Strafford had resigned having failed at the club, he also caused major disruption within the boardroom. Following his resignation Strafford engaged in a corporate whistle blowing process exposing various issues that directly contributed to the clubs current plight. Strafford made his name with Sheffield based Internet provider PlusNet. He took PlusNet from 7 to 200+ people and from £0 to £100 million market cap, with the company eventually being sold to British Telecom for only £67 million. While CEO, they went through three sale processes, 6 years as a reporting segment of Insight Enterprises Inc (NASDAQ listed Fortune 500 business), one AIM IPO, two and a half years as a PLC and were eventually sold to BT Group in January 2007. Lee was controversially sacked from his role in March 2007 after being accused of plotting to launch a rival business following PlusNet's £67 million acquisition by BT although no firm evidence of such a plan was ever produced. Lee has spent much of the time since the sale of PlusNet working with the Sheffield City Council and the two Sheffield Universities with a view to helping to create more technology start-ups in the region and establishing better support for existing technology businesses.

James Gordon Brown born 20 February 1951 is a British Labour Party politician, who has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 1983, currently for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath. Served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Labour Party from 2007 until 2010. Brown became Prime Minister in June 2007, after the resignation of Tony Blair and three days after becoming leader of the governing Labour Party. Immediately before this, he had served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour Government from 1997 to 2007. His tenure ended in May 2010, when he resigned as Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party. Brown's time as Chancellor was marked by major reform of Britain's monetary and fiscal policy architecture, transferring interest rate setting powers to the Bank of England, by a wide extension of the powers of the Treasury to cover much domestic policy and by transferring responsibility for banking supervision to the Financial Services Authority. Controversial moves included the abolition of advance corporation tax (ACT) relief in his first budget, and the removal in his final budget of the 10% "starting rate" of personal income tax which he had introduced in 1999. After initial rises in opinion polls following Brown's selection as leader, Labour performed poorly in local and European election results in 2009. A year later, Labour lost 91 seats in the House of Commons at the 2010 general election, giving the Conservative Party a plurality and resulting in a hung parliament. On 10 May 2010, Brown announced he would stand down as leader of the Labour Party, and instructed the party to put into motion the processes to elect a new leader. On 11 May 2010, Brown officially resigned as Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party. He was succeeded as Prime Minister by David Cameron, and as Leader of the Labour Party by Ed Miliband on 25 September 2010.

Duncan Walker Bannatyne, OBE born 2 February 1949 is a Scottish entrepreneur, philanthropist and best selling author. His business interests include health clubs, hotels, media, TV, stage schools, property and transport. He is most famous for his appearance as a business angel on the BBC programme Dragons' Den. He has written four books; Anyone Can Do It sold more than 250,000 copies and Wake Up and Change Your Life quickly entered the Sunday Telegraph top selling books list, as did How to be Smart With Your Money which was followed by How to be Smart With Your Time. He was appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to charity.

David Blunkett born 6 June 1947 British Labour Party politician Member of Parliament (MP) for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough from 1987 to 2010. Blind since birth, from a poor family in one of Sheffield's most deprived districts, he rose to become Education Secretary in Tony Blair's first Cabinet following Labour's victory in the 1997 general election. Became Home Secretary following the 2001 general election, a position he held until 2004, when he was forced to resign following the revelation of an affair Blunkett was having while serving as Home Secretary. Following the 2005 general election, he was appointed Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, but was again forced to resign later that year following the release of a series of reports about his external business interests during his brief time outside the cabinet.

Alistair Maclean Darling born 28 November 1953 A British Labour Party politician who has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 1987, currently for Edinburgh South West. He served as the Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2007 to 2010. Darling was one of only three people to have served in the Cabinet continuously from Labour's victory in 1997 until its defeat in 2010 (the others being Gordon Brown and Jack Straw). Darling was initially appointed as Chief Secretary to the Treasury in 1997, moving to become Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in 1998. Spending four years at the department, he spent another four years as Secretary of State for Transport, also becoming Secretary of State for Scotland in 2003. Prime Minister Tony Blair moved Darling for a final time, to Secretary of State for Trade and Industry in 2006, before Gordon Brown promoted Darling to Chancellor in 2007.
